MASON CITY - The Marshalltown boys' tennis team defeated Mason City in convincing fashion Tuesday to pull its dual meet record above .500.

The Bobcats downed the Mohawks 9-2 to improve to 4-3 on the year.

The Bobcats swept the doubles competition after taking four of six singles matches.

Alex Brada and Kyle Dalluge won their No. 1 doubles match 6-0, 6-2, while Ryan Shomo and Kalei Platt were 6-1, 6-3 winners at No. 2.

Adam Podhajsky and Drayton Lents won 6-1, 6-0 and Kody Zuercher and Donovan Reyes 6-1, 6-2.

Ben Anzis and Jameson Eberline were 3-6, 6-2 (10-8) winners in the only doubles match to need a tiebreaker.

Shomo and Brada both won in straight sets in Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, while Platt and Anzis did the same at No. 4 and No. 6.

Coming off the league win to raise their CIML Iowa Conference record to 1-2, the Bobcats are now off until next Tuesday when they host Fort Dodge at the MHS courts at 4:15 p.m.

Tuesday's JV level match went to the Bobcats, 11-3
