Cleo Walker, 85, of Marshalltown, died early Friday morning, April 27th, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Hillcrest Cemetery at Moravia, Iowa. Visitation hours are 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Born on September 24th, 1926, at Udell, Iowa, he was the son of Jesse and Susan (Thistlewaite) Walker. He graduated from the Moravia High School's Class of 1944. While there, he met the lovely young Lorene Martin and the two were united in marriage on July 15th, 1945. They farmed near Mystic most of their married lives and moved to Marshalltown in 1991. Cleo and Lorene were members of the Baptist Church in Centerville.
Cleo's younger years included playing baseball and a devotion to farming. He treasured his family and traveling (especially Las Vegas in the wintertime), fishing and hunting, playing cards, croquet and pool and never missed a bowl of good ice cream.
Left to cherish his memory are Lorene, his loving wife of 66 years, daughter Linda (Ron) Newton of Clovis, CA, son Dennis (Vicki) Walker of Laurel, grandchildren- Cari (Steve) Teske of New Providence, Chad Walker of Marshalltown, Amy (Robert) Kramer of Riverdale, Iowa, Andrea Koch of Marshalltown, Gina (Chris) Redmond, Alison (Hanley) Quidato; great-grandchildren Trenton, Morgan, Tanner, Treye, Layton, Riley, Kael, Addyson, Mia and Zoe as well as his sister Joan Davis of Centerville.
In death, Cleo rejoined his parents, son Craig and grandson Martin Dale.
