MASON CITY - The Marshalltown boys' soccer team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 9-2 victory over Mason City in CIML Iowa Conference action on Thursday.
Jacob Heatwole and Luis Nunez had two goals apiece for the Bobcats (9-4, 1-1). Ellis Buchwald, Martin Chavarria, David Duran, Mi Reh and Tony Ordaz Zambrano each added a score.
Buchwald had a team-high two assists. Christian Lugo, Jose Cordova, Nunez and Ordaz Zambrano had an assist apiece.
Marshalltown led 1-0 in the first half before the game was stopped for 40 minutes due to a lightning delay. The Bobcats pushed ahead 3-0 at the intermission.
Next up for MHS is the Nevada tournament on Saturday. The Bobcats have won two straight championships in the event. Marshalltown opens with Bondurant-Farrar at 9 a.m.
Marshalltown won Thursday's JV level game against the Mohawks, 5-0.
