FORT DODGE - The Marshalltown Community College softball team ran into top-seeded and No. 7-ranked Iowa Central on the wrong side of the NJCAA Division II Region XI bracket.

Iowa Central hit four home runs and ended the MCC Tigers' season in a run rule-shortened defeat, topping Marshalltown 11-2 in six innings on Friday at Harlan Rogers Park.

The Tritons were upset by eighth-seeded NIACC in Thursday's opening round and took their frustrations out on MCC pitchers Stacy Roggentein and Felisha Durflinger on Friday afternoon. Iowa Central totaled 10 hits, six of which went for extra bases, and scored in all but one at-bat.

Roggentein (12-14) struck out five and walked two in five innings, while Durflinger was in the circle when the game ended on a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth.

Iowa Central pitcher Corinne Frei (23-3) struck out 11, walked none and allowed only two hits. Megan Risetter had a double and a home run among her four hits for the Tritons.

Hally Lenzine connected for her 29th and final home run in an MCC uniform, completing her single-season Tiger record while tying her for the national lead.

MCC finishes the season with a 26-22 record, while Iowa Central (52-10) advances to face second-seeded and ninth-ranked Kirkwood (42-12) today in an elimination game.
