GRUNDY CENTER - Reigning Class 2A state champion Chantel Eicher of East Marshall won a playoff for medalist honors, but Grundy Center handled the rest of the hardware at Friday's NICL West golf meet at Town & Country Golf Club.
Eicher and Grundy Center's Josie McMartin shared low-round honors at 43, but the Spartans shot their season-best nine-hole team total to win the dual meet, 182-223.
The Spartans (27-4) got a 45 from Baylie Wrage, while Hillary Samo and Lindsay Freeman both shot 47.
Behind Eicher's 43, East Marshall's scoring rounds were a 58 from Alyssa Kozak, a 59 from Sydney Henricks and Sara Pippen's 63.
Hudson edges Rebel boys
WATERLOO - Gladbrook-Reinbeck got the individual medals but Hudson took the team triumph in a triangular boys' golf meet held on Friday at South Hills Golf Course.
Hudson shot a 169 total to hold off G-R's 172 and a 185 from North Tama.
The Rebels got the low round of the day from senior Kevin Trobaugh, who shot a 3-over 39 on the front nine at South Hills. Jacob Smoldt took the runner-up spot in a cardback with Hudson's Kyler Rickert after both players shot 41.
Parker Bolt and Cobren Bird rounded out G-R's team score as both shot 46.
Taylor Dinsdale shot 45 to lead North Tama while Hunter Danker shot 46 and both Jacob Wrage and Blade Bradley carded 47s.
