NEVADA - The Marshalltown boys' soccer team scored one goal in three games in finishing fourth at the Nevada Tournament on Saturday.
Alfonso Gonzalez scored the only goal of the day for the two-time defending tournament champion Bobcats, assisted by Victor Cisneros, as Marshalltown knocked off Class 1A No. 11-ranked Bondurant-Farrar in the opening round, 1-0.
It was the first goal of the season for Gonzalez, while goalkeeper Kreighton Miller made five saves in the the team's fourth shutout victory.
MHS ran into Des Moines Hoover for the second time in six days. The Huskies took Monday's cross-CIML meeting 2-1 in overtime in Marshalltown, and on Saturday it was Hoover advancing to the championship game with a 3-0 triumph.
In a rematch of last year's title bout, 1A No. 2 Iowa City Regina ousted the Bobcats 2-0.
Marshalltown (10-6) goes on the road for one last non-conference match on Monday, visiting Urbandale for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Bobcats' last home game is next Friday against Fort Dodge.
