MASON CITY - The Marshalltown girls' golf team had three players shoot under 100 for the third meet in a row, but it wasn't enough for the Bobcats to climb the ladder in the second half of the CIML Iowa Conference tournament.

Marshalltown carded a 400 on Tuesday at Mason City Country Club to finish in fourth place with a 787 team total when combined with the April 16 CIML first-half meet at Willow Creek.

The Bobcats had two all-conference medalists in Ashley Harris and Hayley Lillibridge, who placed fifth and 16th respectively. Harris shot a team-best 91 on Tuesday to finish with a 173 total, while Lillibridge carded a 97 for a 198 composite.

Waukee had the top four individual finishers as it further distanced itself from the rest of the conference. Behind Payton Minear's medalist total of 73-80-153, the Warriors won by 89 strokes with a 325-328-653.

The standings from the first-half meet stayed the same as Valley (742) was second, Ames (752) third, Marshalltown (787) fourth, Fort Dodge (792) fifth and Mason City (806) sixth.

Joining Harris and Lillibridge in double digits on the day was Katie Lynch, whose 102-98-200 total was good for 17th overall but one spot out of all-conference recognition.

"Although the girls appeared a little tired from their season-best effort Monday at Fort Dodge, they still managed to finish fourth at the conference meet," said MHS coach Tim Bell. "I think we surprised some people this year with our fourth-place finish.

"Now we need to get ready for regionals next Monday."

Marshalltown journeys to Cedar Falls on May 21 for the Class 4A Region 3 meet at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, competing against 11 other squads in hopes of a top-two team finish or a top-five individual result necessary to advance to state.
