The Family Leader endorses Jech for Senate

The Family Leader group has announced the endorsement of nine candidates in Iowa in advance of next month's primary including Marshalltown Republican Jane Jech.

Jech is running in Senate District 36 against Marshalltown attorney Larry McKibben in the June 5 primary for the Republican nod.

The political action group endorses candidates based on bold conservative leadership and their belief in pro-family legislation - especially pro-life legislation.

Jech said she completed a survey by the group and they thought her values aligned with the candidate profile they were looking to endorse.

"I'm excited to have their endorsement," Jech said. "They are involved with issues that are important to Iowa families."

The Family Leader made headlines last year with its push to get three Iowa Supreme Court justices removed from the bench over their decision to legalize same-sex marriage. Jech said she also feels the same-sex marriage issue should not be ruled by the bench.

"I'm in total agreement with The Family Leader to allow Iowans to vote on the issue of marriage," Jech said.

The winner of the primary between Jech and McKibben will move on to run against incumbent Steve Sodders, D-State Center, in the general election Nov. 6.
