AMES - Class 3A No. 6 Ames handed the Marshalltown boys' soccer team a 3-0 setback on Thursday.
The Bobcats end the regular season with a 12-8 record and went 2-3 in CIML Iowa Conference play.
"The boys played pretty well at first then progressed in the second half to moving the ball around quite well," said MHS head coach Creighton Jenness.
Eli Devine finished with 15 saves in goal for the Bobcats as starting keeper Kreighton Miller was out due to a wrist injury. MHS was also down three players due to suspension.
Two of the Ames goals came due to Bobcat miscues in clearing the ball away from their own net.
Marshalltown begins substate play on Monday against Waterloo East at 6:30 p.m. at Leonard Cole Field.
