Accidents
On May 24, a pickup driven by Marvin Lee Carty, 308 S. 3rd St., was southbound on South Center Street approaching the intersection with Westwood Drive when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Shirley Eloise Lynch, of Conrad, which was stopped for a red light. No injuries were reported. Carty was cited for following too closely. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000 each.
On May 24, a car driven by Sarah Anne Youngbear-Brown, of Tama, was eastbound in the 500 block of East Main Street when it collided with the rear of a legally parked car pushing it into the rear of a legally parked minivan and then left the scene. Passenger Brett David Olsen, of Toddville, was injured and refused treatment. Damage to the Youngbear-Brown car was estimated at $3,000 while the legally parked car received an estimated $800 in damage and the legally parked minivan an estimated $250 in damage.

On May 21, Dustin Lee Carmer, of Des Moines, was arrested for failure to serve jail time.
