Incidents

On Sunday, it was reported that $10,000 in negotiable checks was stolen from 31 N. 1st Ave.

On Saturday, Linda Molinda, 501 1/2 N. Center St. Apt. #1, reported the theft of a boys 20 inch dirt bike. Estimated value of loss was $100.

On Friday, a citizen reported for the Marshalltown Waterworks, 205 E. State St., hit and run damage to a fire hydrant located at 1203 S. 3rd Ave. Estimated value of damage was $2,000.

On Friday, David Smith, 707 N. 4th Ave., reported hit and run damage to the left rear quarter panel on a 1988 Kia Sportage while parked at 300 Marion St. Estimated value of damage was $100.

On Friday, Brice Millican, 203 W. Iowa Ave., reported the theft of a Montana loader bracket from 203 W. Iowa Ave. Estimated value of loss was $600.

On Friday, an employee with Innovative Communications, 26 E. Main St., reported the theft of a tool bag and tools from a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup while parked at the business. Estimated value of loss was $3,000.

On Thursday, Lakeisha Bernice Green, of Gladbrook, reported the theft of a security uniform from Meskwaki along with all the identification badges while at the Marshall Town Center, 2500 S. Center St. Estimated value of loss was $150.

On Monday, Rebecca Smith, 1101 S. 7th Ave., reported damage by a basketball hoop to the side of car roof on a 2004 Acura RSX while parked at her residence. Estimated value of damage was $200.

On Monday, Robert Korey La Monte Woodbury, 1211 W. Boone St., reported fraudulent use of a debit card in the amount of $125.59.

On Monday, Stephen C. Peters, 314 N. 7th St., reported damage to burners and grates on a Aussie grill and the walk-in door of a garage and the theft of a thermometer and four bags of smoking wood chips. Estimated value of loss was $577.

On Sunday, Amanda Warnell, 613 W. Linn St., reported the theft of a 19 and 32 inch Vizio TV from her residence. Estimated value of loss was $700.

Citations

On Sunday, Luis Eduardo Cisneros, 701 Woodbury St., was cited for dog at large.

On Sunday, Andrew Xavier Ramirez, 1703 Edgebrook Dr. Apt. G6, was cited for possession of a Schedule I Controlled substance (marijuana).

On Friday, a female juvenile from Marshalltown was cited for simple assault.

On Friday, Brandon Lynn Muschick, of Whitten, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Hogeland Auto.

On Thursday, Anthony Allan Vodochodsky, 911 Jackson St., was cited for failure to register a vicious dog.

On May 15, Suzanne Marie Curley, 206 S. 5th St., was cited for failure to register a vicious dog.

On Monday, Sherry Lynn Laughton, 210 N. 3rd Ave. Apt. #4, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

On Monday, Steven Daniel Havens, 1703 Edgebrook Dr. Apt. G4, was cited for theft, fifth degree from Walmart.

Arrests

On Sunday, Luis Manuel Mendez, 309 N. 4th St., was arrested for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Sunday, Jose Pizano-Alba, 507 W. Nevada St., was arrested for operating while intoxicated, third offense.

On Sunday, Pedro Ramos, 702 Noble St., was arrested for disorderly conduct.

On Sunday, Jason Eric Lowell, of Des Moines, was arrested for public intoxication.

On Sunday, Griselda Herrera, 408 N. 8th Ave., was arrested for theft, second degree.

On Saturday, Eric Hernandez, 408 N. 14th Ave., was arrested for driving while barred.

On Friday, Rodney Paul Shogren, 811 N. 5th Ave., was arrested for public intoxication.

On Friday, Daeton Lee Guldberg, 404 N. 14th Ave., was arrested for aggravated domestic assault, enhanced.

On May 30, Joseph Dean Ashby, 104 E. Lincoln St., was arrested for two counts of child endangerment without injury and interference with official acts.

Accidents

On Saturday, a pickup driven by David Coulton Carmody, 2008 Catalina Place, was westbound on East Anson Street when it went through a red light according to a witness and collided with a vehicle driven by Daniel Martinez, 710 E. State St., which was traveling south on South Third Avenue. Martinez was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center for observation. Carmody was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device. Damage to the Carmody pickup was estimated at $12,000 while the Martinez vehicle received an estimated $5,000 in damage.

On Monday, a car driven by Michael Ashen, 622 W. Nevada St., was exiting a parking spot at Walmart when it collied with a vehicle driven by Betty Jean Kimberley, 1864 190th St., which was traveling through the lot. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Ashen car was estimated at $500 while the Kimberley vehicle received $2,000 in damages.

On Monday, a vehicle driven by Consuelo Avalos-Gonzalez, 508 E. State St., was northbound in the 1800 block of South Third Avenue when it left the traveled portion of the roadway, went up into a yard, struck a tree and went through the side of a garage owned by Bobby Ryner, 1807 S. 3rd Ave., where it collided with the minivan inside. Avalos-Gonzalez was possibly injured, but not transported. Damage to the Avalos-Gonzalez vehicle was estimated at $8,000 while the Ryner garage received an estimated $15,000 in damage and the Ryner minivan an estimated $6,000 in damage.

Tuesday

Alicia Papakee, of Tama, made an initial appearance on a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge and a no insurance charge. She pleaded guilty to both charges. On the driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge the fine was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 due immediately. The fine on the no insurance charge $250 with a $87.50 surcharge, a $5 county initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $402.50 due immediately.

Steven Havens, 1703 Edgebrook Dr. Apt. G4, made an initial appearance on a theft, fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, a $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75 due immediately plus restitution if applicable.

Eric Hernandez, 408 N. 14th Ave., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge, a speeding charge, a no insurance charge and a failure to carry registration card charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle his cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on June 25. Bond will continue as posted.

Kenneth Zahnd, 1324 W. Linn St., made an initial appearance on a compulsory education law violation charge. The case was dismissed per Assistance County Attorney and court costs were waived.

Deborah Klaas, 206 S. 3rd Ave. Apt. #2, made an initial appearance on a compulsory education violation charge. She pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75 due immediately. The court allowed Klaas instead of the fine and surcharge to do 12 hours of community service plus pay court costs to be completed by Aug. 1.

Salud Avalos, 601 E. Linn St., made an initial appearance on a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge. The case was dismissed per Assistant County Attorney and the court costs were waived.

Christopher Michael Wyatt, of Union, made an initial appearance on a no medical certificate on driver's possession charge, a operating a commercial motor vehicle without periodic inspection charge, a unsecured dunnage charge and a Class CDL and needs a Class D driver's license charge. He pleaded guilty to the unsecured dunnage charge and was fined $50 with a $17.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $127.50 due immediately. Per the Assistant County Attorney all other charges were dismissed with court costs of $60 assessed for a total of $180 due immediately.
