MASON CITY - Taylor Wagner scored the game-winning run in the first game and then hit her second home run of the season in helping the Marshalltown softball team sweep Mason City in CIML Iowa Conference play Monday.
The Bobcats (7-10, 3-5) won the opener 4-3 in eight innings, with Wagner scoring from first on a Mason City throwing error. Wagner also had two of the team's eight hits in support of Lauren Mazour, who struck out eight.
Wagner and Hailee Beals both had doubles, while Madi Bellile and Mazour both notched RBI singles.
MHS took the second game 7-2 behind Taylor Vaske, who struck out four. Wagner doubled and homered as the Bobcats scored in five of seven at-bats.
Bellile had two hits, a stolen base and two RBIs, while Mazour doubled. Quinn Goodman also had an RBI single for MHS, which hosts Fort Dodge for a conference doubleheader on Thursday night.
