Woman faces theft charges

A Marshalltown woman faces several criminal charges after allegedly using a lost credit card to purchase various items around town.

Theresa Ackerman, 43, of Marshalltown allegedly racked up $266 in charges on a stolen credit card between May 10 and May 21, Capt. Chris Jones of the Marshalltown Police Department said.

Police arrested Ackerman Saturday on charges of ongoing criminal conduct, forgery, both Class D felonies, unlawful use of a credit card, third-degree theft and identity theft, all aggravated misdemeanors.

The theft charge is enhanced because of prior convictions, Jones said.

The Contempt Hearing will be scheduled through Magistrate Court as their docket permits. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Maria Busani, 1301 1/2 E. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge, a no driver's license charge, a no insurance charge and a striking unattended vehicle charge. The Public Defender's Office was appointed to handle her cases. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. on June 29. Busani was released on her own recognizance. The court ordered that she obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Daniel James Rebik, of Haverhill, made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated charge and improper brake light charge. The Preliminary Hearing is set for 1 p.m. June 29. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days. Rebik was released on his own recognizance.

Kerry Brandon Logan, 408 W. High St., made an initial appearance on a violation of Pre-Trial. Bond was set at $5,000 cash or surety.
