Plans are well underway for the annual fireworks celebration set to be held promptly at 9:34 p.m. on July 4 at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds, 1308 E. Olive St.
Fireworks Committee Chair Denny Grabenbauer said that the goal of $15,000 for the display is close to being reached, and the fireworks should go off with no problem come July.
"We've gotten a lot of community support," Grabenbauer said. "We should make it close or meet our goal, especially with the help of our partnership with Hy-Vee and all of the individual donations."

Plans are coming together for the fireworks show shooting off from the Central Iowa Fairgrounds on the Fourth of July.
Grabenbauer said that festivities will kickoff earlier in the afternoon around 2 p.m. and go until the time of the fireworks display.
"There will be a lot of free entertainment," Grabenbauer said. "We will have inflatables set up that were supplied by JBS, a nine-hole miniature golf course and stage entertainment."
The committee is still taking donations, and Grabenbauer said that, if interested, you can send a donation to 1 E. Main St. in Marshalltown with the envelope labeled "Fireworks Committee."
