Police called off a search for a missing 10-year-old boy just after 10 p.m. Monday near the Center Street Dam.

Officers used the K-9 unit to scour the river bank just before 9 p.m. looking for a boy who went missing some time earlier in the day, said Capt. Mike Hanken of the Marshalltown Police Department.

The boy was swimming in the river with friends when he went under, Hanken said.
