Redhawks snap Don Bosco’s 5-year Iowa Star winning streak

GILBERTVILLE - The North Tama baseball team became the first team to defeat Don Bosco in conference play since 2007 as the Redhawks won 6-5 on Monday.

The Dons came into the matchup bidding for a fifth consecutive undefeated Iowa Star Conference season and 105-3 in league action since joining the Iowa Star in 2006.

Dalton Hulme went all seven innings on the mound for North Tama (10-10, 5-3) as he allowed two earned runs on 10 hits for the win.

Clayton Blocker went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Redhawks. Jacob Wrage finished with a hit and two runs scored, while Huston Danker and Wrage both had a hit and RBI. Justin Jacobs, Brandon Kaufman and Justin Coshow each added a base hit.

North Tama jumped out right away with three runs in the top of the first, followed by two in the second and one in the third to lead 6-2.

Austin Demuth finished with three hits for Don Bosco (13-5, 8-1). Jake Hogan had two hits and two RBIs.

The Redhawks travel to CAL tonight.
