PREP ROUND-UP: Trojans move into tie for NICL West lead

STATE CENTER - West Marshall's 9-7 victory over BCLUW in NICL West baseball action on Tuesday allowed the Trojans to gain a share of the conference lead.

East Marshall lost to Gladbrook-Reinbeck on Tuesday so both Marshall County schools are now 8-2 in conference play.

Eighth-grader Jared Johnson had a single and double to lead the Trojans (11-5). Jake Pszanka had a hit, two runs scored and two RBIs.

Braydn Beals struck out seven over 4 2/3 innings on the hill for the win.

Robert Sharp finished with two singles for the Comets (9-10, 4-5). Cole Thompson and Wes Hammers both had a base hit.

The two teams combined for 19 walks on the night.

SOFTBALL

BCLUW 3, West Marshall 0

STATE CENTER - Nicolette Simpson struck out six in a shutout for Class 2A No. 10 BCLUW.

Danielle Montgomery had a triple to lead the attack for the Comets (17-8, 9-1). Mallory Vawter finished with two hits. Abby Miller drove in a run.

Simpson allowed five hits to the Trojans (9-11, 4-6) - all singles. McKenna Hotopp went four innings in the circle, allowing one run on six hits to take the loss.
