A local woman is accused of being mid-level meth dealer.

Police raided the home of Jill Weitzell, 29, Tuesday afternoon, recovering 22 grams of crystal meth, Detective Joel Phillips of the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force said.

Weitzell is charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute, a Class B felony, possession of more than seven grams of a controlled substance without a tax stamp, a Class D felony, and three counts of child neglect, Class C felonies.

Weitzell had been allegedly selling drugs out of her home on 409 N. Seventh Ave., where her 4, 8 and 12-year-old children also lived, Phillips said. Police removed the children from the home and placed them in Crisis Care, which helps the Department of Human Services with relocating children of those arrested for drug-related crimes.

Weitzell is a smaller player in a big drug game, Phillips said.

He said information obtained from confidential informants, citizens and criminal defendants all pointed to Weitzell selling drugs. Police had been investigating her for the past two months.

The street value of the meth is around $2,000.

Weitzell is being held on $100,000 cash-only bond.
