WEST DES MOINES - It was a historic night for Marshalltown softball.
The Bobcats split a doubleheader with West Des Moines Valley for a rare win over their CIML Iowa rival.
Lauren Mazour allowed just one earned run over seven innings in the circle to help MHS collect a 4-2 victory over the Class 5A No. 3 Tigers, who had won seven-straight games entering Monday night.
Valley won the nightcap, 7-5.
Taylor Wagner and Quinn Goodman both doubled in the opener while Hailee Beals added a single.
Taylor Vaske took the loss in game two while Mazour homered and had two RBIs. Wagner, Goodman, Beals and Emily DeVenney all had two hits apiece for the Bobcats, who step out of league play Wednesday night with a trip to Benton before returning home to host Mason City on Thursday night.
