PREP BASEBALL: Bloom Ks 15 in Mustang triumph

BEAMAN - The East Marshall baseball team solidified its slim lead by scoring five runs in the top of the seventh inning on its way to a 7-1 victory over BCLUW in Monday's NICL West Division clash.

Mustang pitcher John Bloom struck out 15 and did not walk a batter for the win, allowing just four hits. He also led the East Marshall bats with a 2-for-4 day at the plate with three RBIs.

Dakotah Wolken was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Ryam Puumala had a double, while Zach Rubenbauer and Lance Steward both had a hit and an RBI for the Mustangs (17-10, 10-2).

Cole Thompson went 6 1/3 innings in the loss on the mound for BCLUW, walking six and striking out two. He had one of the Comets' four hits, scoring on a Robert Sharp single in the fourth to tie the game at 1-all.

Sharp and Wes Hammers both had a double for BCLUW (10-11, 5-5), which goes to South Tama tonight. East Marshall hosts West Marshall in Gilman.

West Marshall 16, Grundy Center 5, 5 innings

STATE CENTER - The West Marshall bats broke out for 16 runs in support of left-hander Braydn Beals, who tossed a four-hitter in West Marshall's 16-5, five-inning victory over Grundy Center.

Beals struck out five and walked five, allowing just one earned run.

Justin Weitzell finished 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, while Nolan Sinning went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored for the Trojans (14-5, 10-2). Jared Johnson was 1-for-3 with three driven in.

Elliott Eggleston took the loss for Grundy Center.

North Tama 6, Colo-NESCO 2

TRAER - Dalton Hulme threw a one-hitter and North Tama defeated Colo-NESCO, 6-2, on Monday night in Iowa Star Conference baseball action.

Hulme struck out five and walked two in the win while he also collected one of the Redhawks' two hits at the plate on the night. Brian Seda notched the other.

The Royals' Brandon Niemeyer's single was the only hit of the night for Colo-NESCO, which hosts Clarksville on Wednesday night in Zearing.

North Tama welcomes Tripoli on Wednesday night.
