What better way to watch the classic summer movie "Field of Dreams" than on an actually ball field?
The Marshalltown Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a new program titled Movies in the Park starting this Saturday with the 1989 film starring Kevin Costner.
The public is invited to the free screening and reservations are not necessary. The screen is expected to be 15 by 20 feet and located in the center diamond of the complex.

The Sixth Street Softball Complex will be the spot for a free film shown at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The Movie in the Park series starts with “Field of Dreams.”
Chad Weir, recreation superintendent with parks and recreation, said they got the idea from other towns that have shown movies in the park and he thinks this is the first time Marshalltown has done something like this.
"We were looking for an event to involve the community, and this one made sense," Weir said.
The concession stand will be open for purchasing of food and drink. Weir said visitors should not expect high definition or the latest in digital sound, but they can enjoy a unique, family-friendly night out.

"We're looking for the experience," Weir said.
"Field of Dreams" was filmed in Iowa and includes the classic line "Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa."
"That just kind of fit," Weir said in regards to showing the movie on the softball field.
Movies are also expected to be screened July 21 and Aug. 11 in the park. Those films are yet to be determined.
The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Heavy rain would most likely cancel the event. For more information, call the Parks and Recreation department at 641-754-5715.
