TAMA - Conner Ubben threw 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief and the BCLUW baseball team scratched together three runs in the top of the 10th inning to knock off South Tama, 9-6, in an NICL West Division thriller on Tuesday night.
South Tama scored four times in the bottom of the seventh to even things up at 6-all, but Ubben shut the Trojans down to the tune of one hit the rest of the way. Ubben struck out two for the win.
BCLUW (11-11, 6-6) got four hits in the 10th, starting with singles by Cole Thompson and Robert Sharp. One out later, Lane Caster drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single, Zach Cashin plated another with a groundout, and Wes Hammers plated Caster with a hit.
Sharp and Hammers both finished with three singles, and Thompson had a double.
Grant Koch suffered the loss on the mound for South Tama (11-10, 8-5).
GMG 19, Meskwaki 0, 5 innings
MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT - Kyle Barloon allowed just a second-inning single while going 4-for-5 with a triple to lead the GMG baseball team to an Iowa Star Conference rout of host Meskwaki, 19-0 in five innings, on Tuesday.
Barloon hit a batter in the first and gave up a single to Deontre Butts in the second, but those were the only Warriors batters to reach base. Barloon (1-2) struck out eight for his first win in three starts this season.
Brandon Weitzell went 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs to lead GMG at the plate. Barloon scored four times and drove in two. Luke Petty finished 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while Chad Plaehn was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Tanner Krier drove in three runs.
The Wolverines (5-16, 4-8) have conference games at home tonight against Janesville and Thursday's Senior Night contest against Don Bosco.
