No. 13 Comets defend home turf against No. 6 Jesup

CONRAD - Danielle Montgomery drove in three runs and Olivia Callaway allowed just two hits as Class 2A No. 13 BCLUW defeated No. 6 Jesup 12-0 in three innings Wednesday in non-conference softball play.

Montgomery went 2-for-2 with a double while Callaway struck out five and walked none in the win.

Abby Miller had a pair of RBIs and scored two runs for the Comets (24-9).

Courtney Amundson, Maddie Olson, Jessica deNeui and Makayla Van Cleave all had one hit and one RBI apiece. Sarah McCoy collected one hit.

Freshman Trina Johnson took the loss in the circle for Jesup (27-7).

West Marshall 7, Hudson 6

STATE CENTER - Five different Trojans drove in runs as West Marshall claimed victory heading into its last game of the regular season.

Sadie Simatovich had two RBIs while McKenna Hotopp, Jennifer Davis, Blair Bailey and Karis Gibbs all had one.

Hotopp was the winning pitcher, allowing one run on one hit to go along with three strikeouts in her 2 1/3 innings in the circle.

West Marshall hosts South Tama for Senior Night this evening.

BASEBALL

Janesville 6, GMG 4

GREEN MOUNTAIN - Janesville defeated GMG, 6-4, on Wednesday night in Iowa Star Conference baseball play.

The Wolverines got two hits and an RBI apiece from Brandon Lolwing, Wade Barritt and Chad Plaehn in the loss.

Josh Raymond started and went 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts in the no-decision. Luke Petty was tagged with the loss after giving up just one earned run in his 2 1/3 innings of work.

GMG hosts Don Bosco this evening for Senior Night.

North Tama 8, Tripoli 0

TRAER - Brandon Kaufman hit a home run and Clayton Blocker a triple as the Redhawks claimed an Iowa Star Conference victory.

Kaufman, Blocker and Jacob Wrage all had a pair of hits while Brian Seda went five innings on the mound for the win. He allowed just one hit and struck out five.

North Tama returns to action tonight with a doubleheader at home against Meskwaki starting at 5 p.m.
