GILMAN - The East Marshall baseball team rapped out 16 hits to secure its spot atop the NICL West Division standings, ripping Grundy Center 13-3 in six innings on Thursday night.
The Mustangs (19-10, 12-2) scored seven times in the bottom of the sixth to end the game, with Jake Weatherman pitching a five-hitter for the win. He struck out two and walked one.
Dakotah Wolken went 3-for-4 with four runs scored, John Bloom was 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs, and Lance Stewart finished 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Cole Harre added a 2-for-2 day at the plate for the Mustangs. Dalton Beadle had a double and three RBIs, and Nick Mommer added a double and two RBIs.
Jordan Clapp took the loss for Grundy Center.
Redhawks take two from Warriors
TRAER - The North Tama baseball team (16-10, 11-3) swept an Iowa Star Conference doubleheader with Meskwaki on Thursday night, winning 10-0 in both games.
Brandon Kaufman struck out 10 and walked two in his one-hitter in the opener, while Justin Jacobs struck out five and walked none in his one-hitter.
In game one, Brian Seda went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run and two RBIs. Jacob Wrage, Jacobs and Brent Billerbeck each scored once and drove in a run.
Seda was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in the second game.
The Redhawks host Jesup for a doubleheader on Monday.
