Fireworks are set to light the sky on Wednesday as Marshalltown celebrates its annual Fourth of July celebration which will take place at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds.

Fireworks Committee Chair Denny Grabenbauer said the day will be filled with different entertainment and activities for both kids and adults that will all lead up to the fireworks at 9:34 p.m. Wednesday.

"We've got kids games and inflatables, and everything will start at 2 p.m.," Grabenbauer said. "We also have a magician, vocalist Erin Scott, DJ Legendary, a group of cloggers, and The M-Tunes and the Marshalltown Municipal Band will lead us to the fireworks with patriotic songs."

Grabenbauer stressed that everything at the fairgrounds will be free outside of the food vendors, and there will be plenty of parking.

"There's plenty to do, all you need to do is bring your family and a blanket to watch the fireworks," Grabenbauer said.

This is the fourth straight year the celebration has taken place at the Central Iowa Fairgrounds and J & M Displays out of Walcott, Iowa has been entrusted to shoot off the $12,000 worth of fireworks, Grabenbauer said. The show is expected to last around 30 minutes, but Grabenbauer said not to leave until the lights come on.
