A love of a television show where people bid on the contents of abandoned storage units has led to a new thrift store now open in Marshall Town Center.

The store, named A Little of Everything, is the result of an interest in buying second hand items by Marshalltown couples Sharon and Dale Olson and Carol and Evan Ealy.

"We've bought some storage lockers and had some really great garage sales," Sharon Olson said. "We've been buying storage lockers all over Iowa."

The store features clothing, furniture, appliances, toys, kitchen items, electronics, jewelry, women's accessories and other items.

"We just have it all," Sharon Olson said.

The store officially opens today with a grand opening celebration planned for July 8. The grand opening will feature drawings for gift certificates.

The store is located across from Younkers in the former Sam Goody site in the mall.

"This is a good location," Dale Olson said.

The owners said people should visit often as the inventory will constantly be changing.

The couples met while bidding on storage lockers together.

A Little of Everything will be open regular mall hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
