NEVADA - The East Marshall softball team went 2-1 in finishing second at the Nevada Tournament on Saturday.
The Class 3A No. 5-ranked Mustangs fell to third-ranked Bondurant-Farrar, 12-1 in five innings, in the title game. East Marshall opened with wins over Des Moines North (13-1) and Saydel (7-2).
The Mustangs erupted for 11 runs in the fourth inning against Des Moines North, while Paige Flugge pitched a one-hitter. Taylor Fricke launched two home runs in finishing 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs.
Paige Miller went 3-for-4 with two runs scored as the Mustangs toppled Saydel. Haley Long scattered 11 hits and four walks for the win, striking out two.
Bondurant-Farrar (31-6) turned back East Marshall (27-5) for the second time in eight days. Mariah Fritz took the loss in the circle.
