Edna Knavel, age 92, of Iowa Falls, IA, died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, IA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls. Edna will be buried at Point Pleasant Cemetery in rural Eldora, IA.

Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Iowa Falls, on Monday, July 2, 2012 from 9:00 to 10:30 am.

Edna Ellen (Mitterer) Knavel was born on August 1, 1919 on the Mitterer homestead in the Point Pleasant neighborhood between Eldora and Hubbard, Iowa.

Edna received her education by attending Victor Country School through the 8th grade.

On June 29, 1940, Edna was united in marriage to Harold H. Knavel at the Methodist parsonage in Charles City, Iowa. She and Harold were co-owners of G & K Wholesale where she helped keep the books for many years. She also worked at General Publishing for 8 years, worked at Pineview Lunchroom and mentored Jacob at Pineview and Rock Run for 7 - 8 years.

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church where she belonged to the Ladies Aid. She belonged to several Bridge and 500 Clubs. Edna volunteered at Lighthouse Center of Hope for many years.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her daughter Sandra Rhodes and her husband Byron of Zearing, Iowa; three grandchildren Brett (Tracy) Rhodes of Panama City, Florida, Blake (Paige) Rhodes of Denver. Colorado and Shauna (Chad) of Conrad, Iowa; eight great-grandchildren Zach, Madelynn, Clay and Joseph Rhodes, Alyssa and Ty Rhodes and Max, Olivia and Angus Callaway; one sister-in-law Margaret Mitterer of Iowa Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents her husband Harold (1/12/2000), five sisters and three brothers.
