FORT DODGE - Taylor Wagner homered in both games of Monday's CIML Iowa Conference doubleheader yet the Marshalltown softball squad split with host Fort Dodge.

The Dodgers claimed the opener 7-3, but the Bobcats (18-21, 7-13) answered with an 8-5 win in the nightcap. The split left the teams tied for third place in the final conference standings.

Wagner's home run in game one accounted for one of her three hits, and Madi Bellile also had three hits in the loss.

MHS pitcher Lauren Mazour allowed four earned runs on 12 hits, walking none while striking out two.

Jami Haden led Fort Dodge (19-20, 7-13) with three hits. Mallory Kilian struck out four from the circle.

In the second game, Taylor Vaske struck out five and walked none in the win. Only two of the runs were earned on nine Fort Dodge hits.

Cassidy Blackford had a double among her team-leading three hits and stole two bases. Bellile added two more singles in the nightcap, and Wagner's lone hit was a home run.

The Bobcats open Class 5A regional play on Thursday night with a 7 p.m. game at Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
