MONROE - PCM turned its 12 hits into 12 runs to defeat South Tama in the Class 3A Region 7 softball quarterfinals on Tuesday, 12-4
The visiting Trojans (10-22) collected nine hits, led by three from Jade Rohach. Sam Holtz added two hits, while Hailee Weiss had a double.
Jenn Maus was in the circle for STC, allowing 12 runs on 12 hits, striking out three and walking three.
PCM travels to No. 4-ranked Mid-Prairie for Friday's regional semifinals.
Wapsie Valley 6, Gladbrook-Reinbeck 0
GLADBROOK - The Gladbrook-Reinbeck softball team had its season ended at the hands of Wapsie Valley in Tuesday's Class 2A Region 3 opener, falling 6-0.
The Rebels (10-17) matched Wapsie Valley with three hits apiece, but the Warriors scored four unearned runs to take control.
G-R pitcher Paige Thompson struck out five and walked two in the loss. Kayla Holbach, Emily Snider and Kristen Tessau each singled for the Rebels.
Charles City 4-11, BCLUW 0-2
CHARLES CITY - Class 4A No. 13 Charles City grabbed both ends of a doubleheader from Class 2A No. 10 BCLUW on Tuesday.
Charles City claimed the opener 4-0 by shutout with Olivia Callaway pitching for BCLUW.
Sarah McCoy and Danielle Montgomery both had doubles in a game two 11-2 loss for BCLUW. Nicolette Simpson was the pitcher for record for BCLUW.
The postseason opener for BCLUW is Thursday in Conrad with a 2A Region 3 quarterfinal against Wapsie Valley at 7 p.m.
