PREP BASEBALL: Mustangs head into districts after 12-1 win over GMG

GREEN MOUNTAIN - East Marshall claimed a 12-1 five-inning victory over GMG in a non-conference baseball matchup on Thursday.

The NICL West champion Mustangs end the regular season with a 22-11 record. East Marshall is the No. 2-seed in the Class 2A District 13 bracket and after a first-round bye, faces the winner of Aplington-Parkersburg against South Hardin on Tuesday in Beaman.

John Bloom and Ryan Puumala both had three hits on Thursday for the Mustangs. Nick Mommer added two hits. Zach Rubenbauer finished with three RBIs.

Pitcher Dakotah Wolken ran his season record to 7-0 as he allowed one run on four hits in five innings. Wolken struck out four and walked one.

West Marshall 6, Nevada 2

NEVADA - Braydn Beals, Jake Pszanka, Jared Riemenschneider and Justin Weitzell each had two hits for the Trojans on Thursday.

Nolan Sinning went six innings on the hill for the win for West Marshall (16-7). Sinning allowed two runs on three hits, striking out five and walking two.

The Trojans are the No. 2-seed in their district (Class 2A District 14) and open play on Tuesday in Alleman against the winner of Roland-Story against CMB.

North Tama 8, Denver 3

DENVER - Brian Seda went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs as North Tama ended the regular season on a winning note.

Seda also was the winning pitcher, going 4 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

Jacob Wrage went 4-for-4 with four stolen bases for the Redhawks (17-12). Brent Billerbeck added two hits.

North Tama hosts GMG on Tuesday in its district opener.

Denver drops to 5-21 for the summer.
