MUSCATINE - Marshalltown's postseason march meets Class 5A's most potent offense tonight.
The Bobcats head east to face No. 3 Muscatine in the semifinals of the Region 5 playoffs at 7 p.m.
The Muskies (34-4) lead Class 5A softball in runs (365), batting average (.441) and on-base percentage (.495).
Muscatine has three players with at least 40 RBIs in Emily Clemens (46), Megan Butler (45) and Taylor Berry (40). Katie Shoultz is second in Class 5A with a .561 batting average.
Taylor Carey has thrown the most innings for the Muskies, notching a 2.05 ERA in 85 1/3 innings of work.
Marshalltown (19-21) has won two straight after dispatching Cedar Rapids Kennedy in the opening round Thursday. Taylor Wagner leads MHS with 24 RBIs and a .463 batting average.
The winner of tonight's game will face whomever emerges from the Iowa City High-Burlington semifinal Tuesday in Muscatine.
