On February 17th, 1968, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to Amelia "Amy" Karl. They made their home in Marshalltown where he was employed for 42 faithful years at Fisher Controls until retiring in July of 2007. He was a member of the UAW Local #893, Central Iowa Outdoors Without Boundaries, and the American Legion.
