Accidents

On Sunday, a car driven by Melissa Ibarra, 2341 Marshalltown Blvd., was stopped at the intersection of Sixth Street and State Street when it attempted to enter traffic and collided with the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Krystal Michelle Harrison, 2022 190th St., that was traveling west on State Street causing it to go out of control and strike a legally parked vehicle. No injuries were reported. Ibarra was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign. Damage to the Ibarra car and Harrison vehicle were estimated at $2,000 each while the legally parked vehicle received an estimated $200 in damage.

On Sunday, a car driven by Nancey Jean Luense, 509 N. 3rd St., was stopped at the intersection of East Lincoln Street and North Third Avenue when it attempted to enter traffic and collided with the passenger side of a vehicle driven by Miranda Coryn Colvin, of Cedar Falls, which was traveling south on Third Avenue. Luense was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries. Luense was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign. Damage to the Luense car was estimated at $2,500 while the Colvin vehicle received an estimated $1,800 in damage.

On Thursday, a car driven by Heather Irene Reynolds, 216 Glenda Dr. Apt. #8, was northbound on South Center Street at the intersection with Iowa Avenue when it attempted to turn left into the path of a minivan driven by Henry Ratcliffe Bradbury, 1705 Olson Way, causing it to take evasive action at which time it collided with a car driven by

Derek Mackenzie Williams, 208 S. 6th St., which was sitting at the intersection facing east stopped for the red light. No injuries were reported. Reynolds was cited for failure to yield upon left turn. Damage to the Bradbury minivan and the Williams car was estimated at $2,000 each.

On Thursday, a car driven by Jovany Rodriguez Garcia, 1017 S. 8th Ave., was traveling on North First Avenue at the intersection with East Main Street when it collided with a bicycle ridden by Bernard A. Brooks, 209 W. Nevada St., which was riding through the crosswalk of the intersection and then left the scene. Brooks received non-incapacitating injuries. Rodriguez Garcia was cited for no insurance-accident, no license and leaving the scene of an accident. Damage to the Rodriguez Garcia car was estimated at $500 while the Brooks bicycle received an estimated $200 in damage.

On July 10, a car driven by Nay Lew, 201 N. 2nd Ave. Apt. #35, was eastbound on Boone Street crossing over into oncoming traffic when it struck a legally parked pickup. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Lew car was estimated at $6,000 while the legally parked pickup received an estimated $1,000 in damage.

Citations

On Sunday, Jeffrey Dean Piatt Jr., 302 Sharon Ave., was cited for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana).

On Saturday, Salih Hassan Abdelfarag, 114 N. 12th Ave., was cited for public intoxication.

Arrests

On Monday, Cari Lynn Pepe, 206 W. Grant St. Apt. #2, was arrested for interference with official acts, criminal mischief, fifth degree; trespass, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana), enhanced; possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of prescription drugs and prohibited acts.

On Monday, Timothy Dean Ebersole, 206 W. Grant St. Apt. #2, was arrested for interference with official acts, trespass, criminal mischief, fifth degree; prohibited acts, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana) enhanced; possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Sunday, William L. Thompson, 509 May St., was arrested for violation of a no-contact order.

Monday

Victor R. Quintanilla-Gonzalez, 11 N. 9th St., made an initial appearance on a no insurance charge and a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges and was fined $250 for each with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50 for each charge, due immediately.

Steven F. Wilcox, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a absence from custody charge and a probation violation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle both cases. The preliminary hearing on the absence from custody charge was scheduled for 1 p.m. July 26. The probation revocation hearing will be scheduled by the district court as its docket permits. No bond was allowed on the absence from custody charge and a $100,000 cash only bond was allowed for the probation violation charge.

Alex Anaya, 1113 Fremont St., made an initial appearance on a assault causing bodily injury charge and a criminal mischief, fifth degree charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. July 26. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Alfred Healey, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a probation violation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The probation revocation hearing is set for 3:45 p.m. July 25. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Willie John Hilson, House of Compassion, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty. The court ordered that he serve 48 hours in jail with credit for time served to begin immediately plus pay court costs of $60 by Aug. 15.

Donita Jo Clapsaddle, 908 S. 9th Ave., made an initial appearance through counsel, Barry Kaplan, on a possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (marijuana) charge, a possession of drug paraphernalia charge and a failure to obey a stop sign charge. The preliminary hearing was waived. Clapsaddle was released on her own recognizance. The court ordered that she obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

William L. Thompson, 509 May St., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge, an operation without registration charge, a failure to have a valid driver's license or permit charge and a open container charge. The contempt hearing is set for 3:45 p.m. July 30. The simple misdemeanors are continued until further notification by the court. Thompson was released on his own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Sadie Wagner, 1604 W. Main St., made an initial appearance on a failure to obey a stop or yield sign charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 21. Wagner was released on her own recognizance.

Terrance Williams, 9 1/2 S. 9th St., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge and a interference with official acts charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 21. Williams was released on his own recognizance.

Melissa Hall, 1513 Brentwood Terrace, made an initial appearance on a failure to stop within a clear and assured distance charge, a no insurance charge and a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge. She pleaded guilty to all charges. On the failure to stop within a safe and assured distance charge the fine was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately. The fine on the no insurance charge was $500 with a $175 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $735, due immediately. On the driving while the license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge the fine was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due immediately.

Jacob James Lillibridge, 1806 Knollwood Drive, made an initial appearance on a probation revocation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The scheduling hearing is set for 1 p.m. July 20. He was released through the Department of Correctional Services and is to contact them immediately.

Deja Lynne Hasselmann, 201 S. 2nd St. (Lower), made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge and three counts of a child endangerment charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Aug. 3. She was released through the Department of Correctional Services and is to contact them within 48 hours.

Benjamin LeRoy Horrell, of Ferguson, made an initial appearance on a absence from custody charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. July 24. No bond was allowed in this case.
