Dolores Plunkett, 79

Dolores Plunkett, 79, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at Southridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 23, at 10:30 a.m., at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown. Entombment will follow services at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Visitation for Dolores will be held Sunday, July 22, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m., with a vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m., at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home where her family will be present to greet friends. Dolores was born March 17, 1933, in Marshalltown, the daughter of Albert and Gertie (VonDees) Kaufmann. She graduated from the Green Mountain Independent High School's Class of 1950. On March 31, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert Plunkett at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown. They made their home in rural Marshalltown. Mrs. Plunkett was employed with Northwestern Bell and one day a month at Heart of Iowa Telephone CoOp. Dee was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters, Telephone Pioneers of America and a supporter of the Knights of Columbus.

Dolores enjoyed golfing, reading, cats and puzzles. She also enjoyed attending and camping at the Iowa State Fair every year and the annual Adventureland weekends with her family which were held for several years. Above all, Dolores loved spending treasured time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all.

Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert of Marshalltown, her children; Vicky (Ken) Wall and Jeff (Diane) Plunkett both of Marshalltown, seven grandchildren; Josh (Sara) Wall, Stacey (Matt) Lundquist, Jarod Wall, April (Wes) Myers, Lyndsey (Nick) Jansen, Taryn Plunkett, and Shay (William) Scholtes; seven great-grandchildren; Jack, Brynn, Jett, Jovi, Emeline, Laurel and Sophia; her brother-in-law Rollie Billman, her niece Cindy Billman of Marshalltown and many friends.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, sister Katherine Billman and brother-in-law Edward Plunkett.
