State baseball qualifier North Tama tabbed an area-best four first-team selections to the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association's all-district squads as released Tuesday.

In all, the Marshalltown area had 23 players picked for the all-district teams, 16 of which were first-team selections.

Marshalltown gained a pair of first-team honorees in Class 4A's North Central district in seniors Kyle Carnahan and Bennett Mann. Carnahan was a unanimous choice as a utility player after leading the Bobcats in a number of statistical categories both offensively and on the mound.

Carnahan's .457 batting average stands eighth in 4A going into today's opening round of the state tournament, while his 32 stolen bases are second-best in the state. The Washburn University signee also went 7-4 on the mound with a 3.61 earned run average and 50 strikeouts.

Mann hit .363 - second on the team - and led the Bobcats with 16 doubles, six triples, three home runs and 38 RBIs.

The North Tama Redhawks had four players selected to an area-dominated 1A Central district team, with seniors Brian Seda and Justin Jacobs joining juniors Dalton Hulme and Jacob Wrage on the top squad. Gladbrook-Reinbeck seniors Parker Bolt, Brady Billerbeck and Austyn Smith, Colo-NESCO juniors JT Adams and Brandyn Niemeyer, and Grundy Center junior Tyler Harken helped area preps make up 10 of the 15 first-team spots.

In Class 2A, district finalist East Marshall had a pair of first-team pitchers selected in seniors Dakotah Wolken and John Bloom. Wolken went 8-0 on the mound and his .500 batting average ranks seventh in 2A. Bloom posted a 6-2 pitching record and was the Mustangs' second-leading hitter at .365 with a team-best 36 RBIs.

BCLUW senior Cole Thompson and West Marshall junior Jared Riemenschneider gained first-team all-Central district selection as well. Riemenschneider led the Trojans with a .426 batting average and 22 stolen bases while going 5-2 on the mound with 55 strikeouts and a 1.53 ERA. Thompson was 5-3 on the hill for the Comets while hitting .424.
