The East Marshall tandem of Dakotah Wolken and John Bloom has bridged the gap between the late 1990s and now with their naming to one of the 2012 Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association's All-Star Series teams.

Wolken and Bloom will be members of the Small Schools East squad for the All-Star Series to be played Aug. 2-5 at the Ashford University Field in Clinton. They will become the first Mustangs to play in the series since Clint Veren in 1997, and the first East Marshall duo on the roster since Denny Allen and Blaine Wauters in 1996.

Marshalltown High School senior Kyle Carnahan becomes the 33rd Bobcat named to play in the IHSBCA All-Star Series, and the eighth in the last six years. Carnahan will be on the Large Schools West team as a catcher.

The IHSBCA also selected its 26th All-Academic Team, honoring two teams of 20 players each. BCLUW senior Chad Dolphin was the area's lone representative, gaining first-team honors.

Dolphin and the rest of the first team will be honored at the All-Star Banquet, which will be held Aug. 4 at 6 p.m. at Eagle Point Lodge in Clinton.
