Tradition with quite a bit of horsepower could describe the 28th Annual Mid-Iowa Antique Power Show, which returns to the grounds of the Marshall County Sheriff's Office Friday through Sunday.

The show puts the spotlight on history with antique tractors, gas engines and demonstrations of how things were done on the farm decades ago.

"The main part of it is history," Don Peck, one of the organizers of the show, said. "People seem to enjoy that. It's always been a great show."

Visitors to last year’s Mid-Iowa Antique Power Show check out tractors on display. The show returns this Friday through Sunday on the grounds of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office west of Marshalltown.

The show will include a wide range of tractors and gas engines on display with Allis Chalmers being the featured manufacturer this year. "They'll be lots of them there," Peck said of the Allis Chalmers tractors.

One of the many highlights of the show is the parade of power, which will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The demonstrations are also crowd pleasers and include corn shelling, the saw mill, tractor plowing, horse activities, steam engine threshing and several others that will go on throughout the weekend.

Friday and Saturday night will each be capped off with live music with the The Patty Richards Show at 6 p.m. Friday and the Prairie Lightning band performing at 6 p.m. Saturday. There will also be an antique crafts and flea market all three days of the show.
