Elizabeth Walbaum, 91 of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Grandview Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the funeral home for 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Liz will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa. Elizabeth E. Hoover was born at home on November 23, 1920 in Hardin County near New Providence, Iowa; she was the daughter of Charles and Anna (Umland) Hoover. Liz had attended country school and graduating from Eldora High School with the class of 1935. On September 16, 1939 Liz was united in marriage to Lou Walbaum. They had made their home and farmed near Eldora and later Wellsburg and in 1962 they moved to Marshalltown. She had worked in the Grundy Center and Marshalltown ASCS offices for 17 years until her retirement. Liz had been a member of Center Street Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Liz had a great love for her Lord and Savior in which she drew great strength, faith and a love and a smile for everyone.
