CLINTON - Marshalltown High School senior Kyle Carnahan became the 33rd Bobcat baseball player to play in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association's All-Star Series on Aug. 2-5 at Ashford University.
Carnahan contributed a single, a hit by pitch and a run scored during the four-game stretch in which his Large Schools West squad went 2-2 on the way to third place.
East Marshall seniors Dakotah Wolken and John Bloom were also chosen to play for the Small Schools East squad, but complete game statistics were unavailable.
ESPN3 to televise five MVFC games
CEDAR FALLS - The Missouri Valley Football Conference has reached an agreement with ESPN3 as part of the its Missouri Valley Conference Game of the Week package.
Northern Iowa will be featured as the ESPN3 MVFC Game of the Week on Nov. 10 against South Dakota. That game will kick off at noon.
The agreement includes the terms that ESPN3 will carry at least five college football games from the league this season, and as many as 15 additional conference games will be carried on ESPN3.
Panthers to host annual golf tourney
CEDAR FALLS - The UNI women's basketball squad will host the 2012 UNI Women's Basketball Annual Golf Gig on Aug. 18 with a shotgun start set for 12:30 p.m.
The coaches and players will host the four-person best shot tournament at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, which will include flight gifts, pin prizes and a raffle. Each group will be teamed with a UNI women's basketball player and all proceeds will directly benefit the women's basketball program.
The event is $75 per person and attendees also can sponsor a hole for $100 per hole or a team that is competing for $350 per team. The $75 price includes green fees, a cart, a
T-shirt and dinner.

T.C.'s Tailgate headed to Jasper Winery
Hosted by the Panther Scholarship Club and sponsored by Aviva, T.C.'s Tailgate at Jasper Winery in Des Moines has been set for Aug. 16 from 6-9 p.m. The event also is sponsored by the University of Northern Iowa Alumni Association.
Panther fans are encouraged to attend the event at Jasper Winery, which is located at 2400 George Flagg Parkway in Des Moines.
Fans can mingle with UNI coaches and staff while enjoying food, drinks and live music. The event costs $10 for Adults (21 and over), $5 (20 and under) and children ages 5 and under are free.
For those interested, a charter bus will be available. The bus will be leaving at 3 p.m. from the west parking lot by the UNI-Dome. Cost to ride the bus is $10, which includes your admission to the event, but space on the bus is limited.
