Monday

Karen Sanford, of Grinnell, made an initial appearance on a possession of a Schedule III controlled substance charge, a driving under suspension charge, a no insurance charge, speeding charge and a no driver's license charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her cases. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 31. Bond will continue as posted. The court ordered that she obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

J. Jesus Villagomez Lopez, 506 W. Madison St., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately.

Steven Wayne Paul, of Laurel, made an initial appearance on a excessive side projection of load on a passenger vehicle charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 18.

Jerome McDowell, 10 N. 4th St., made an initial appearance on a driving while revoked charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 29. McDowell was released on his own recognizance.

Lee Erin Kenner, 2608A Reed Ave., made an initial appearance on a theft, fifth degree charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge, $125 law enforcement initiative surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $272.75, due immediately plus restitution.

Julie Wengert, of Albion, made an initial appearance on a seat belt violation charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 18.

Jessica Miller, of Ames, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 18.

Melinda Bonschmidt, 1355 180th St., made an initial appearance on a failure to yield upon left turn charge and a driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge. She pleaded guilty to both charges. On the failure to yield upon left turn the fine was $100 with a $35 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $195, due immediately. The fine on the driving while license is denied, cancelled, revoked or suspended charge was $250 with a $87.50 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $397.50, due immediately.

Jaylen Celia Sharee Padilla, 202 S. 3rd Ave. Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a simple domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. She pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 18. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Daniel Barron, 532 N. 1st St. Apt. #3, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He will retain his own counsel. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. on Sept. 25. Barron was released on his own recognizance.

Kristi Cronin, 107 E. Lincoln St., made an initial appearance on a violation of a no-contact order charge. The court appointed Randy Giannetto to represent her in this case. The contempt hearing is set for 2:45 p.m. on Aug. 27. Cronin was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Mariah Tufte, 405 S. 3rd St. Apt. #2, made an initial appearance on a serious domestic assault charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle her case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 31. She was released on her own recognizance. A no-contact order was issued for the protected party.

Samuel Cisneros, 307 S. 4th St., made an initial appearance on a probation revocation charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The scheduling hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 20. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.

Wol Reec Wol, 308 E. Boone St. Apt. #8, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge and a disorderly conduct charge. He pleaded guilty to both charges. The fine on both was $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, each due immediately.

Gustavus Jr. Dalton, of Montour, made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately.

Peter Jon Peter, 308 E. Boone St., made an initial appearance on a disorderly conduct charge. He pleaded guilty and was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due immediately.

Cody Craighton, 310 N. 7th St., made an initial appearance on a operating while intoxicated offense charge and a improper brake light charge. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 31. Craighton was released on his own recognizance. The court ordered that he obtain a substance abuse evaluation and submit the results to the court within 60 days.

Alex Anaya, 202 N. 13th St., made an initial appearance on a driving while barred charge. The public defender's office was appointed to handle his case. The preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. on Aug. 21. Bond is set at $2,000 cash or surety.
