Peschong pegged as preseason all-star quarterback

ROSELAND, N.J. - Southwest Minnesota State University senior Tyler Peschong has been selected as one of five quarterbacks on the 20th annual USA College Football NCAA Division II Preseason Central Regional All-Star Team.

Peschong, a 2008 Marshalltown High School graduate, was named second team all-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division squad last season after passing for 2,627 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also rushed for 414 yards and seven scores in leading the NSIC in total offense.

Peschong was also an academic all-NSIC selection last fall as well.

The SMSU Mustangs open the 2012 football season on Aug. 30 in Marshall, Minn., against NCAA Division II No. 2-ranked Minnesota-Duluth.
