Man sees handful of aggravated misdemeanor charges

Police arrested a local man on five aggravated misdemeanor charges Wednesday, according to reports released Friday.

Kenny Claytor stands accused of assaulting his 22-year-old live-in girlfriend while she was holding her 7-month-old child, said Capt. Mike Hanken, with the Marshalltown Police department.

Claytor allegedly caused bodily harm to the woman during a dispute in the couple's yard on the 400 block of Melody Lane, leaving her with a lasting mark on one of her arms. When a neighbor tried to intervene, Hanken said, Claytor threatened her. He then allegedly smashed his girlfriend's cell phone.

The incident earned Claytor two counts of first-degree harassment, an obstruction of an emergency communication charge and a child endangerment charge in addition to his enhanced domestic assault charge, all aggravated misdemeanors.

No one on scene needed medical attention. Police contacted the Department of Human Services and Domestic Violence Alternatives.
