Paul Wobeter, 68

TOLEDO - Paul Edwin Wobeter, 68, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2012 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 5-7 PM at St. Patrick Catholic Church with a Vigil Service at 7 PM.

Paul was born on February 23, 1944, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Celestine Joseph "C.J." and Frances Mary (Kucera) Wobeter.

He graduated from Toledo High School where he was a member of FFA.

Paul served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from January 25, 1965 thru December 1, 1966.

On June 28, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Paulette Waner in La Junta, Colorado. Paul farmed for forty years north of Toledo. He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, the Iowa Pork Producers, Iowa Cattleman Association, American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed antique John Deere tractors and driving his tractor in parades. Paul faced his illness with acceptance, strength, and courage just as he had with everything he confronted in life, always relying on his strong faith in God who would be the final decision maker of his life and death plan.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister, Mary Ann.

Survivors include his wife, Paulette of Toledo; two sons, Curt (Karin) Wobeter of Toledo, and Craig Wobeter of Toledo; three grandsons, Austin, Carson, and Caiden Wobeter; his siblings, Larry (Liz) Wobeter of Montrose, CO; Sr. Celeste Wobeter of Notre Dame Sisters, Omaha, NE Tony (Gaylen) Wobeter of Iowa City, Leo (Linda) Wobeter of Vinton, and Peter (Berleen) Wobeter of Toledo, Annie (Jeff) Brill of Ham Lake, MN, and Debra Heil of Marshalltown; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be contributed to Iowa River Hospice or Pancreatic Cancer Research.
