PANORA - Devin Chesler's two fourth-quarter touchdown runs helped West Marshall hold off Class 1A No. 10 Panorama as the 2A No. 4-ranked Trojans picked up a 33-26 victory in non-district football action Friday night.
Chesler scored a pair of 21-yard touchdown runs in the final period to keep the Panthers (1-1) at bay after taking a 20-12 lead into the fourth.
Panorama scored on a 70-yard pass from Garrett Mleynek to Mason McNeill, and Mleynek's 15-yard touchdown run brought the score to its final.
Duncan Ferch rushed 28 times for 272 yards and three touchdowns, punching it in from 15, 8 and 2 yards out. Chesler added 93 yards on 13 carries as the Trojans were limited to just 18 yards passing.
Mleynek also had a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to key Panorama's offense.
"They were a nice football team," said West Marshall head coach Ken Winkler. "They covered well in the secondary, their quarterback's a nice player and I think they were more physical than what we thought they were going to be.
"We had a chance to blow it open but had a touchdown called back on a penalty and we gave up a big plass play and they made a game of it."
Colby Dunn led the West Marshall defense with 12 tackles. Bailey Brockman and Ferch both finished with eight stops, and Jared Riemenschneider had an interception.
The Trojans return home to take on PCM of Monroe in next Friday's final non-district game.
