MCC soccer starts with lopsided win

ROSEMOUNT, Minn. - Seven different players scored goals as the Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team started the season with a 7-1 rout of Bismarck State College on Friday at the Minnesota Kick-Off Tournament hosted by Dakota County Technical College.

Alex Salvador scored MCC's first goal in the 11th minute of action, and goals in the 36th and 39th minute put the Tigers in front 3-0.

Bismarck scored its only goal 2 minutes into the second half as Marshalltown ran away with the win.

Roberto Velazquez tallied two assists for the Tigers, while goalkeeper Alfredo Piedra recorded two saves in the victory.

MCC returns to action today with a 12:30 p.m. contest against College of Lake County. The Tigers take on Anoka-Ramsey CC at the same time Sunday. Marshalltown's home opener will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. against Scott CC.
