Owner: Ann Judge-Tempel
The Business: I offer a wide range of alteration services from formal wear to jeans, hemming and zipper replacement to attain the best outcome for my customer's garments. I have more than 15 years of professional experience sewing. I perfected my alterations skills after several years of extensive practice. I purchased clothing or used my own clothes to practice. I did this until I was comfortable in offering my services to the public. I offer free-of-charge consultations.
Unique Features: While alterations are my main business, I also offer gift baskets, embroidered totes and vintage items such as a beautiful handmade wedding gown, a 1940s baby stroller, and linens. Additionally, I make and sell tube skirts. The skirts are fun to make, wear and can be dressed up or down. A tube skirt can be worn with a tank top and flip flops. Or, one can put on heels and use the skirt for a formal function.
Why Central Iowa?: It has been a dream of mine for a long time to own, and operate my own alterations and gift shop. I have had a love of sewing since I was a little girl watching my grandmother sew dresses for me. I was amazed by her skills and how she could take a length of fabric and turn it in to a beautiful dress for me! I still have that same love for sewing today, and a sense of satisfaction when I see a customer smile because he or she is very pleased with my work, or have helped make that special day a little less stressful.
