Liozzi tallies goal, assist as MCC wraps up weekend

ROSEMOUNT, Minn. - The Marshalltown Community College men's soccer team rounded out its opening weekend with a 1-0-1 showing Saturday and Sunday at the Minnesota Kick-Off Tournament.

The Tigers (2-0-1) took down College of Lake County in Sunday afternoon's pairing, and then MCC tied against Anoka-Ramsey CC on Sunday.

Against Lake County, Philip Zeon gave the Tigers the lead for good with his goal in the 42nd minute. In the second half, Joao de Olivera Silva scored on an assist from Bruno Liozzi in the 50th minute, and Liozzi made it 3-0 just 5 minutes later on an assist from Alex Galvan.

MCC goalkeeper Juan Castrejon did not have to make any saves in the shutout win. The Tigers registered 13 shots on goal.

Marshalltown plays its home opener on Tuesday, taking on Scott CC at 4 p.m. at MCC.
