Kathryn Louise Rush

Kathryn Louise Rush, age 82, died at Villa del Sol in Marshalltown, Iowa on Sunday, September 2, 2012, with her family and friends by her side.

Kathryn was born on December 27, 1929 to Samuel and Francis Lawson in rural Buckeye, Iowa, where she grew up on the family farm. She graduated from Radcliffe high school, and taught in a country school until she married Larry Laverle Rush on May 15, 1949. They moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa, and she continued teaching until expecting their first child.

Kathryn will be remembered for her sweet personality, her kindness to everyone, and her love of life evidenced by her beautiful smile and her laughter. Her courage and strength, and her optimistic spirit during her long illness were a source of encouragement for all who knew her.

She enjoyed working in her flower garden, sewing, cooking, and baking for her family and friends. She delighted in having her children and grandchildren around her as much as possible.

She was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Survivors include her husband, Larry of 63 years, her children Joseph (Lynne) Rush from Victor, IA and David (Victoria) Rush from Ankeny, IA; 6 grandchildren: Jason and Tabitha Rush (Ethan and Aiden) from Davenport, IA, Ryan and Amber Rush (Devin and Coltin) from Boone, IA, Melissa (Rush) and Anthony Commisso (Dominic, Nicolas, & Ava) from Rockton, IL, Kala (Rush) and Job Yamen (Zane and Holden) from Des Moines, IA, Samantha Rush from Port St. Lucie, FL and Joseph Rush from Riverside, FL; her sister Dorothy Schwebke of Eldora, IA, her brother Raymond Lawson from Webster City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 3 brothers.

Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 507 E. Olive, Marshalltown, IA, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. There will be a reception at Fishers Community Center, 709 South Center Street, Marshalltown, IA, at 1:45 p.m.
