Vivian Prescott, 93, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Funeral services for Vivian will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with the visitation prior from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow services at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Vivian was born May 9, 1919, in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of John and Lena (Hinecker) Thornblade. On January 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Arthur Prescott at State Street Evangelical Church in Marshalltown. They moved to California in 1942 where Arthur was stationed in the United States Army Air Corps. They returned to Marshalltown in 1945 where they resided the rest of their lives. Vivian's jobs included Kresge Dollar Store, Dunham Bush as a drill press operator, Proctor and Gamble, Lennox and most recently at the Marshall Office Supply as a bookkeeper where she retired in 1981.
Vivian was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church, 65 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary #46 where she was the President for one year and also the Bridge Club. Vivian was an avid golfer and loved to play bridge. She and Arthur loved to vacation in Arizona in the winters. She will be missed by many.
Vivian is survived by her numerous nieces, nephews and friends that dearly cared and loved her. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur and two brothers, Arthur and George Thornblade.
